'Eid al-Aḍḥa Announcement
Friday the 31st of July 2020
'Eid Mubārak! It is confirmed that 'Eid al-Aḍḥa is Friday the 31st of July 2020.
May Allāh the Almighty make these blessed 10 days of Dhul Ḥijjah a salvation for all of us. Āmīn.
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja)." Then some companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Not even Jihad?" He replied, "Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah's sake) and does not return with any of those things."
Sahih al-Bukhari 969

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Loughborough is a beautiful, leafy town situated in Leicestershire. It's home to an estimated 5,000 resident Muslims and a sizable student population served by two Mosques with a maximum capacity of just over 1,000 worshippers combined. Facilities for women and children are severely lacking, especially for communal activities; locals are forced to use facilities provided by Loughborough University which is straining relations between the Islamic Society and University Chaplaincy.
For these reasons, we're setting up the Loughborough Muslim Centre; a Community Centre and hub where everyone would be welcome, irrespective of age, gender, background or belief. We would like a place for the whole community especially a place where young people, women and children feel welcome.
Where will my donations go?
We're determined to only spend your donations on the purchase and upkeep of a building and facilities for the purpose of the Community Centre. We know that God is witness to the trust you put in us and he commands us in the Qur'ān:
"O you who have believed, do not betray Allāh and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know (the consequence)." [Al-Anfāl, 27]
Any other costs will be covered by us, and not from donations.
Who we are
We are a diverse group of individuals from a number of backgrounds within Loughborough. The LMC is made up of ex-students from Loughborough University who have completed their studies and decided to reside here as well as local families who have lived in Loughborough their entire lives.
We have connections with the council, the local University, the two Mosques in Loughborough and links to a number of private and public figures within the community and further afield.
You can get in touch with us through our email address at [email protected], or contact us directly through any of our Social Media accounts.
