Loughborough Muslim Centre

Expansion Project

Building Appeal

Target amount: £250,000

After almost 4 years, we have proceeded to purchase our building for use as a Mosque and Community Centre.

We now have much work to do to bring the building up to standard. One of the key issues facing us it that the bathrooms are in the way of the Qiblah and unsuitable for the number of people we are now regularly serving.

Q Abu Ayyub reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

"When you go to the toilet, neither turn your face nor your back towards the qiblah at the time of urinating, but turn towards the east or the west."

Narrated in Sahīh al-Bukhāri (144). Also narrated in Sahīh Muslim (264)

(Abu Ayyub said): When we came to Syria, we found that the toilets already built there were facing the qiblah, We turned our faces away from them and begged pardon of Allaah.

Support the future of Loughborough

Our priority is to move the bathrooms and add a Wudhu’ area at the back of the property in shā-Allāh. However, there are some other works that would greatly benefit the space:

  • Knocking out the internal walls on the ground and first floor to accommodate more people;
  • Electrical re-wiring to solve the electrical issues we have had (our fuse board is very old and we have been advised it will fail a safety check);
  • Rendering externally and insulating internally to improve the energy efficiency and sound-proofing which is currently quite poor;
  • Replacing the windows with double-glazing
  • Extending the first and second floor to the full rear elevation; and
  • Developing the loft as a small library and seating area.

Q Abu Musa reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

"Every Muslim must give Sadaqa." They said, "And if he does not find anything (to give)?" He replied, "Then he should work his hands, benefit himself and then give Sadaqa." They asked, "And if he is unable to or does not do it?" He replied, "Then he should help someone with a great need." They said, "And if he does not do it?" He replied, "Then he should command the good or command the correct." They said, "And if he does not do that?" They said, "He should refrain from evil. That is Sadaqa for him."

Narrated in Sahīh al-Bukhāri (6022). Also narrated in Sahīh Muslim (1008)
