After 12 months of searching, we have finally found a location we feel is suitable for use as a community centre. From the beginning, we had some conditions we thought would be necessary to cater for all of us in Loughborough:
- A place near to us
- A location with plenty of parking and easy access by road and foot
- A building with two entrances
- Enough space inside to accommodate our sisters, families and children for the variety of activities around town
The building we have found ticks all of these boxes Alḥamdulillāh!
10 Duke Street is a single-storey warehouse and office unit of brick and block consisting of just shy of 400 sq m. Internally the building benefits from a main office area, two private offices, kitchenette, two warehouse/workshop areas and toilet/bathroom areas. The car park can fit an estimated 20 cars at the top of a quiet cul-de-sac comprising of a mixture of industrial and trade units. It is available on the market for leasehold at £23.5k/annum. This should easily provide us enough space for:
- 'Eid Prayer
- Monthly Youth Programme Activities
- Sisters' Circles
- Weekly Classes for kids and adults
- And much more!
We need to collect £50k before August 2020
Abu Musa reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
"Every Muslim must give Sadaqa." They said, "And if he does not find anything (to give)?" He replied, "Then he should work his hands, benefit himself and then give Sadaqa." They asked, "And if he is unable to or does not do it?" He replied, "Then he should help someone with a great need." They said, "And if he does not do it?" He replied, "Then he should command the good or command the correct." They said, "And if he does not do that?" They said, "He should refrain from evil. That is Sadaqa for him."
Narrated in Sahīh al-Bukhāri (6022). Also narrated in Sahīh Muslim (1008)

Where will my donations go?
We're determined to only spend your donations on the purchase and upkeep of a building and facilities for the purpose of the Community Centre. We know that God is witness to the trust you put in us and he commands us in the Qur'ān:
"O you who have believed, do not betray Allāh and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know (the consequence)." [Al-Anfāl, 27]
Any other costs will be covered by us, and not from donations.
Beyond the cost of the yearly lease, we have identified some additional costs that donations will be used for:
- Installing carpets and flooring where necessary
- Reconfiguring the false walls to make better use of space
- A sound system for the whole building
- Covering the skylights for better insulation
- Fitting smart thermostats to temperature control the space
- Any repairs and touch-up work to bring the building up to standard
- Monthly bills for the upkeep of the building such as energy, water or council tax
